Welcome to Echoes and Ancestors
After returning from a dream-come-true journey through Germany in May 2025, I came home not just with photos and memories, but with a deeper appreciation for the connections that make family history come alive. As the unofficial family historian for many years, I’ve come to realize that genealogy isn’t just about what we find—it’s about what we choose to share.
On this trip, we met remarkable local researchers—individuals working quietly, outside of big organizations, with deep knowledge of their regions and records. If not for years of exchanging emails and building trust, we might never have found them. That experience made it clear: we need a space where researchers like these can introduce themselves and share their focus areas, so others can find the help they didn’t know was out there.
We also came home with a wealth of information—stories, names, documents, and photos that need to be shared, not stored away. Echoes and Ancestors was created for that purpose: to pass along what we’ve learned, invite others to contribute, and create a living archive for our extended family and fellow researchers.
